At Treasure Coast Window Fashions serving Jensen Beach, we know that many of our customers would love to update the look in their homes, but they just don’t have a huge budget right now. Luckily, we have a few ideas about how to alter the look of a room (or entire home) without breaking your wallet. If you’re interested in making some quick and relatively inexpensive changes, read on!
Rearrange the Room
It might sound simple. That’s because it is! Changing the layout of a space can greatly impact how it appears and how you feel about it overall. Moving furniture could create a new traffic flow in the room, and even open up space for a different use. While you’re at it, consider adding an area rug to spice things up. It can define a specific area, make a conversation zone cozier, or coordinate your whole look. On top of that, you can spend just a little on new throw pillows to add pizzazz to the room—find pillows with fringe, texture, patterns, or bright colors to bump up the look of your current furniture.
Use Accent Colors
You can increase the room’s drama simply by ensuring that all accents are the same color. Coordinate among your drapery or curtains, area rugs, throw blankets, and décor items like vases or artwork to create a unified look throughout the room. If the space has a predominantly neutral color, consider using a bold, bright color for the accent. Also think about bringing in pops of nature through plants—they’ll bring a green shade while also adding texture, visual interest, and a connection to the earth.
Use Drapery or Add New Treatments
Drapery or side panels can add depth and dimension to the window. And, in fact, they can seem to resize it, depending on how you install it. If you hang the rod close to the ceiling, you’ll make the room seem taller. If you mount the brackets four to six inches outside of the window frame, you’ll be able to fully open the drapery and make the window seem wider. And consider the length of the drapery or side panels: if the fabric appears too short, it will minimize the space. Longer drapery (breaking just above the floor or puddling on the ground) will elongate a room. Note: if you already have drapery but don’t think you have the length to move your rod toward the ceiling, add a coordinating valance to create the extra inches.
