Do you ever feel bored with your home’s décor? Does it feel too much like just the same old, same old? At Treasure Coast Window Fashions serving Jensen Beach and West Palm Beach, we have a few ideas for how to spice it up, particularly by rotating your décor seasonally. Read on for our thoughts below!
Seasonal Transformation
Rotating your décor each season can both transform your home and bring in an element of nature: as things change outside, they’ll also be changing inside. Here are a few ways to incorporate some seasonal cues:
- Use Perishables. Perishables can allow you to express your flair in decoration. In spring and summer, use fresh flowers, potted herbs, and bowls of fruit to bring an atmosphere of life and growth inside. In the fall, of course, you can use mini pumpkins and gourds as well as changing leaves to bring in earth tones and textures that reflect the outside changes. In winter, put out a bowl of oranges or lemons to brighten the space and illuminate the room.
- Add Aromatics. Scents can strongly evoke memories of times and seasons. For example, summer is all about the bliss of freedom, so coconut or “ocean breeze” scents work well. In autumn, cinnamon and clove bring out thoughts of Halloween and Thanksgiving, while pine, cedarwood, and peppermint are often associated with winter. Spring welcomes floral and citrus scents, with their clean, new-growth-inspired aroma. You can work in these fragrances with essential oils in diffusers or through scented candles.
- Rotate Room Accents. Rotate functional features of the room to easily evoke the seasons. For example, use themed hand towels in the bathroom or kitchen to celebrate the holidays or the changing weather. Update your framed family photos each season to show beach fun in the summer and snow events in the winter.
Window Coverings
It’s not practical to rotate your window coverings each season, of course, but they certainly can play a role in complementing your changing décor. If you use neutral colors against your windows, the rest of your seasonal rotation will pop more. Hunter Douglas Designer Roller Shades offer a clean, minimal design, while Silhouette® Sheer Shades are designed with an adjustable S-shaped vane that helps diffuse light beautifully and offers excellent view-through to the changing seasons outside. Alternatively, you can layer side panels or drapery for pops of complementary or color or to reflect elements of the outdoors.
