Dangling Cord Dangers
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, window coverings with dangling cords are one of the top five hidden hazards for children in homes. If children and curious pets can reach those cords, they could become entangled, which can strangle them, leading to brain damage or death. If you have corded window treatments in your home, consider upgrading to new treatments with one of the following child-safe operating systems from Hunter Douglas:

Retrofit Current Treatments
If you’re not ready to get new treatments at this point but you still have dangling cords on your old treatments, you can still make your window coverings safe. One option is to shorten the cords or tuck them up and out of reach of your child. In an infant or toddler’s room, move the crib or bed away from the window and the corded treatment (ideally on the other side of the room if possible).
