At Treasure Coast Window Fashions serving Jensen Beach, we love our ocean as much as anyone. And we’re always saddened to hear reports of trash sweeping around in its currents, especially given that a lot of that trash is harmful plastic. Hunter Douglas feels the same way. That’s why they wanted to come up with a way to help. Read on to learn what they’ve done!
Recycled Fabrics
The world’s oceans have become a vast dumping ground for plastics, which, in winds and ocean currents, collect to become giant floating death traps for ocean life such as sea turtles, whales, and dolphins. Yet Bionic®, a materials-engineering company that has worked with developing countries to recycle waste on the coasts, is working to combat the problem by turning ocean trash into sustainable fabrics. That’s why Hunter Douglas has partnered with them—to be part of the solution. Through this partnership, Bionic has created a yarn out of waste plastics, and that yarn has become the building block for GreenScreen® Sea-Tex™ Fabrics, which Hunter Douglas has applied exclusively to Designer Screen Shades.
About Designer Screen Shades
Designer Screen Shades are very popular with Treasure Coast Window Fashions customers because they help block harmful UV rays. With that protection, furniture and flooring are better preserved, saving repair or replacement costs down the road. Designer Screen Shades also provide privacy, view-through, and glare control while filtering natural sunlight.
Screen Shade Fabrics
Screen shades are judged by what’s called an “openness level,” which describes the amount of light and privacy the product will provide. The lower the value, the tighter the weave—but no matter the level, it won’t impact the shade’s style. So if you find a shade with a 1% openness level, you won’t get much view, but a shade with 5% openness level will allow more light to come in and will give you better view-through. The GreenScreen Sea-Tex fabrics are available in five neutral tones and have a 3% openness level.
Operating Systems
One of the most overlooked options when selecting window treatments is the operating systems. If your windows are high and hard to reach, consider PowerView® Motorization. If you have children or just don’t like the look of cords, consider LiteRise®. We have a wide variety of operating choices for you to select from.
